百花岭 Bǎihuālǐng, the Hainan Baihualing Tropical Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone, is the national 4A scenic area at the edge of 营根镇 Yínggēn Zhèn, the county seat of 琼中黎族苗族自治县 Qióngzhōng Límé Miáozú Zìzhìxiàn – an autonomous county answering directly to Hainan province, so the zone and the town are the whole address – and it carries two firsts that matter to a sleeper. The zone was approved as a national AAAA attraction in August 2020 and held its unveiling plus its 5A creation launch on 29 September 2020, the first national 4A in Qiongzhong’s history; and inside the valley, at the visitor centre 200 metres short of the falls, stands the 山水居森林瀑布营地 Shānshuǐjū hotel, the only lodging inside the zone – a 2023-built courtyard house of grey tiles and white walls whose room rate includes the gate and the shuttle.

The falls are the reason the valley has a gate at all. 百花瀑布 Bǎihuā Pùbù, the Baihua waterfall, drops more than 300 metres in total – the “tallest-drop rainforest waterfall in Asia, Asia’s number-one rainforest waterfall” as the scenic area’s own wording carried by China News Service has it, with the county government’s more conservative 2017 piece calling it one of Asia’s three great-drop waterfalls, and both claims travel here in that order – falling in three flights the guide pages name 金龙吐珠, 灵丹妙药 and 仙女散花, a platform-sourced naming. The zone around it stacks the rainforest’s party pieces: ten signature tropical-rainforest phenomena including the “aerial garden” of perched plants and the drip-tips of the leaves, the thousand-year 天琴树 Tiānqín strangler fig, a treetop walkway, a glass slide and the 百花天池 Bǎihuā pool; the rainforest zipline runs 2,020 metres with four 360-degree double-loop spirals and fifteen S-bends, the China News Service launch figures. The modern zone dates from a full upgrade beginning at the end of 2015, full opening in 2019, 670,000 cumulative visitors by August 2020, and a provincial ecotourism demonstration-zone listing in February 2024 – the first in Hainan’s central region – on air measured at 25,000 negative ions per cubic centimetre.
The hotel’s privileges are the reason to sleep inside rather than drive up. Guests’ reviews on the EasyBooking and sister platforms, checked on the 2026 snapshot, spell them out: the room rate includes the zone entrance ticket and the sightseeing-shuttle ticket, and the shuttle picks up at the hotel door on call through the front desk; the house is the only hotel inside the zone; and private cars get waved through the gate after the hotel phones the plate number ahead to the gatehouse – a real advantage on holiday weeks, when the outside car park spills a kilometre down the road. The front desk’s own viewing platform looks out for sunrise and cloud sea, and the mountains oblige at night with moonlight over the ridge; one review records guests lingering at the night-viewing deck past ten, but the zone’s official night-hours are simply not published, so this article prints no closing time for the valley itself. The building is a 2023 construction on a traditional courtyard plan – grey tiles, white walls, the guest wings gathered around a “half-hill courtyard” core per the platform descriptions – and the provincial tourism office’s chief planner gave the wider frame at the 4A unveiling: the zone “sits at the very middle of the 田字形 highway grid, the crossing point of Hainan’s central expressway”.

Food and facilities fill out the valley evening. The Chinese restaurant cooks Qiongzhong local flavours and wellness dishes – guests’ recommendations on the platform snapshot run to passion-fruit sour-soup fish and spicy chicken with 捞叶 lāoyè leaves, with the honest counterpoint printed too: a thin breakfast spread and holiday-week insects are the complaints the same reviews carry. Breakfast is a fixed Chinese set, 08:00 to 09:30, 58 yuan an adult and free under 120 centimetres; the wellness floor runs a sweat-steam room, space-cabin rest pods and Li-Miao medicine treatments linked to county hospital resources; there is a 20-to-50-person meeting room, lawn barbecue pits out back, free bicycle hire, pets by prior application, and a deposit of about 200 yuan a room on the platform’s policy page. The zone’s own practicalities frame the day: posted opening 09:00 to 18:00 on the OTA snapshot, and tickets at a confusing spread – the Ctrip snapshot on 30 September 2026 listed an adult ticket-plus-return-shuttle pair at 185 yuan and an adult ticket-plus-shuttle-plus-wish-ribbon at 95, against a knowledge-base line of about 88 – so the working range is about 95 to 185 yuan depending on platform and ticket type, with the zone’s same-day posted price the final word. For guests the point is simpler: it is all in the room rate.
What the Rooms Are Like
The room list is short and shaped by the courtyard plan. The OTA snapshot catalogue runs eight types: the 半山合院 Bànshān Héyuàn king room and suite, the half-hill family king and family suite, the half-hill wellness king and wellness suite, and, at the budget end, the 露营地 lùyingdì forest-pitch tents – king and twin – with shared bathrooms. The courtyard rooms carry small private walled gardens by the reviews, the wellness rooms face the treatment floor, and the tent rooms put you inside the zone for a fraction of the courtyard price at the cost of a walk to the washblock. No published source states the hotel’s total room count – the platform pages list the eight types and no more – so this article prints no number. The star labels are platform ones: Ctrip files it four-star and RollingGo 4.0, with no government grading notice behind either.
Practicalities
Price. On 30 September 2026 the hotel quoted from 780 yuan on Tongcheng at 4.5, from 868 on Ctrip at 4.5 across 128 reviews, and stood at 4.6 out of 5 with 132 reviews and a 97 per cent recommendation rate on the Taiwan-market platform, with the tent rooms the budget tier under the courtyard grades. Zone tickets run about 95 to 185 yuan for an adult with return shuttle depending on platform and ticket type – the zone’s same-day posted price governs. Holiday weeks fill the valley car park and firm the rates. Every figure is a snapshot that floats.
Address. The address is inside the zone, as the platforms print it: 百花岭景区内百花瀑布往前 200 米游客到访中心 Bǎihuālǐng jǐngqū nèi, the visitor-access centre 200 metres past the Baihua waterfall – with the hotel phoning ahead to register your plate at the gate. The zone sits about 6 to 7 kilometres from the county seat: the county government’s 2017 piece says 6, the Ctrip point-of-interest pin says 7 south-east of 营根, and both are printed here.
Rooms. Ask courtyard room or tent before you book, because the shared-bathroom forest tents are a different holiday at a different price. Ask the hotel to register your car plate for the gate – that call is what turns the holiday car park into a non-problem. And ask which wing your courtyard room sits in, since the morning sun, the garden side and the walk to breakfast are not equal around the rectangle.
Getting there. From the county seat the drive is about 6 to 7 kilometres, roughly fifteen minutes by the estimate here; navigate to “百花岭景区” and let the hotel know your plate, or leave the car at the outside car park and take the shuttle like day visitors. Town taxis reach the zone from 营根, a platform guide-page note; the Four Points hotel in town is about 2.8 kilometres from the zone by the platform measures. The wider frame: the central expressway puts Haikou about two hours and Sanya about two and a half away by car, estimates – navigate. There is no railway in the county, and no published night-hours for the valley itself; the posted 09:00-18:00 is the day-visitor frame.

Where to stay: a 半山合院 Bànshān Héyuàn suite if the walled garden and the included tickets are the holiday, a forest-pitch tent if the valley at night is the point and the washblock is acceptable, and – if neither is free – the town hotels 2.8 kilometres below, but you will lose the 200-metre walk to the falls at first light – all at 山水居森林瀑布营地 Shānshuǐjū, 百花岭, 营根镇, 琼中黎族苗族自治县, the only beds inside the valley of Asia’s tallest-drop rainforest waterfall.
flowcloud would say that a zone which spent five years earning a national plaque has learned to sell its one valley of beds with the gate included, and that the correct way to sleep here is in the courtyard with the shuttle schedule memorised, because the falls have been falling for a thousand years and will not move for your checkout time.
