Dushanzi doubles as the northern trailhead of the Duku Highway legend – summer road-trippers stage here for the mountain run – and the town’s own cinema-palace architecture gives the evening walk a retro flourish.
The town’s hotel rows sit ten minutes from the canyon rim: book a morning slot and you watch the first light rake the fluted walls before the tour shuttles arrive. Evening belongs to the town itself – the art-deco cinema palace lit up, the food streets doing lamb and naan, the snowline catching the last pink over the refinery stacks.
