Courtyard Nights: Farm Stays on the City’s Edge
葡萄架下星光晚,一院炊烟半院香 Pútao jià xià xīngguāng wǎn, yī yuàn chuīyān bàn yuàn xiāng – Under the grape trellis the stars come late; one yard of cooking smoke, half a yard of fragrance
正文:农家院住宿 Nóngjiāyuàn Zhùsù farmyard stays ring 五家渠市 Wǔjiāqú Shì Wujiaqu City where the streets give up to orchards – family courtyards opening guest rooms around grape trellises, fig trees and the household garden plot, close enough to town that the evening walk still ends at a night market. This is the district’s most sociable lodging: dinner cooked in the yard kitchen, skewers over the family grill, and hosts who treat guests as the year’s good news rather than its business.

The yards set the rhythm. Trellised courtyards shade long tables where breakfast appears with the first sun; dome-roof felt rooms – the yurt-build fashion of the district – serve as guest lounges and sometimes bedrooms; and the family kitchen turns out the honest repertoire: leek boxes from the griddle, pilaf from the big pot, milk tea by the thermos. Children’s bicycles share the yard with chickens, the vegetable patch doubles as the menu, and the night ends when the last skewer does.
Stay a weekend and the yard becomes a base camp: the lake is ten minutes north, the valley boardwalk ten west, and the orchard bloom in April turns the whole edge-of-town lane into a garden. Hosts arrange everything – lake tickets, fair parking, a cousin’s taxi – and the kitchen packs lunch boxes for the field roads without being asked twice.
The Stays
The trellis tier is the classic farmyard: five rooms around a grape-shaded courtyard, felt-roof lounge, family-style dinners at one long table, and a host family that adopts guests within the first pot of tea – book the rooms off the yard for the quietest nights.

The dome tier adds the felt-roof guest rooms: lattice-wrapped beds with proper heaters, lantern paths between the domes, and breakfast served under the trellis whatever the month – the pick for travelers who want the steppe feeling with the city’s plumbing.
The orchard tier sits deepest among the trees: a working farmyard with fig and apple rows, rooms above the storage barns, and a kitchen that lets guests watch – or join – the leek-box folding after dinner. August brings the grape harvest to the trellis over the table.

Where to stay: Farmstay yards fill in harvest season; agree dinner ahead, expect quilt-heavy beds and early roosters, and bring cash for the honest rate. All checked November 2026.
