Beds Between the Hills and the Lake: Huzhou City Stays
仁皇山下新城起,衣裳街里灯如旧 Rénhuáng Shān xià xīnchéng qǐ, yīshang Jiē lǐ dēng rú jiù – A new town rises below Renhuang Hill; in Yichang Street the lamps burn as of old
市区住宿 Shìqū Zhùsù the stays of 湖州市区 Húzhōu Shìqū downtown Huzhou spread across three registers – the 仁皇山 Rénhuáng Shān Renhuangshan new-town grid where the government towers and business hotels stand, the old-city lanes around 衣裳街 Yīshang Jiē Yichang Street where the restored historic block keeps its guesthouses and teahouses, and the South Taihu shore where the lakeside rooms face the Moon Hotel’s ring. The city is compact, green-edged and lake-close – a base that covers the whole prefecture within an hour.

The old quarter is the atmospheric pick: Yichang Street’s restored lane runs canalside under wooden eaves, the boutique inns keep courtyard breakfasts and canal windows, and the evening walk covers the lane’s snack stalls, the bridge views and the old-town lamps without a taxi. The Renhuangshan grid trades poetry for polish – new-build hotels, parking, the business desks – ten minutes north.

Eating from a city base is the easiest chapter in 湖州市 Húzhōu Shì Huzhou City: the Dinlianfang counters, the eel-shred rice kitchens and the night market stalls all sit within one short hop of either the lane or the grid, and the South Taihu crab tables are a fifteen-minute hop north when the season runs. Business travelers vote for the station-side chains – early trains to Hangzhou, late arrivals from the coast – and the city answers with strong showers and lakeside mornings.
Beyond the city beds, the same 湖州市 Húzhōu Shì Huzhou City keeps other bases for the around-the-region days: 南浔住宿 Nánxún Zhùsù the canal-town inns, 莫干山住宿 Mògān Shān Zhùsù the mountain homestays, 安吉住宿 Ānjí Zhùsù the bamboo-side lodges, or 德清住宿 Déqīng Zhùsù the county-town rooms – four more doors into the same 湖州市 Húzhōu Shì Huzhou City. With beds settled, our Huzhou travel map fills the days.
The Stays
- The splurge tier is the South Taihu shore: lake-view towers, the Moon Hotel’s own address, breakfast over the water – the stay that makes the city feel like a resort.
- The character tier is the Yichang Street lane inns: canal windows, courtyard breakfasts, the old town’s lamps at the door – the atmospheric pick.
- The value tier is the Renhuangshan and station-side chains: fresh towers, parking under the same roof, early trains on the corner – the practical circuit pick.

flowcloud would say a Huzhou night is a city banking two skylines at once: a ring of light out on the lake, and a lane of wooden eaves glowing in the old quarter – with a traveler asleep somewhere between, listening to neither. All checked November 2026.
Where to stay: Huzhou splits its beds between the new-town grid and the old lanes – Renhuangshan hotels own the business desks, Yichang Street inns own the lamp-lit nights, lakeside rooms own the Moon Hotel views, and every tier puts qianzhang baozi within one morning walk.
