You step out of the lobby and the sand is twenty metres away, the South China Sea running flat and bright to the horizon, and a warm wind lifts the smell of salt and grilled seafood from the beach bars behind you. The 深圳大梅沙京基洲际度假酒店 Shēnzhèn Dàméishā Jīngjī Zhōujì Dùjià Jiǔdiàn curves along the bay like a long white wave, its rooms terraced so that nearly every window catches the water, and you understand at once why people come here just to stand on the balcony and do nothing.
Set on the golden beach of Dameisha in Yantian District, the InterContinental is one of the few true beachfront resorts in Shenzhen, backing directly onto a public stretch of sand while keeping its own quiet strip of shoreline. Three sides are wrapped by hills, so the bay feels enclosed and calm, a pocket of resort life an hour from the city’s towers. It is a place built around the sea: six pools, an infinity edge that seems to spill into the ocean, and a private beach that begins where the lobby carpet ends.
The Rooms
The rooms lean modern-luxury, coffee tones and pale wood, with the sea-view categories opening onto balconies wide enough for two loungers and a breakfast you eat watching the fishing boats. The Classic rooms are comfortable and garden-facing; the Deluxe Sea View and the suites are where the hotel earns its name, the bathtub set against the glass so you can soak with the whole bay in front of you. Family and “undersea exploration” themed sea-view rooms come with bunk beds and playful touches for children.
What Makes It Special
The water is the headline. Six indoor and outdoor pools include a children’s pool with a waterslide and the signature infinity pool that frames the ocean like a postcard. Beyond the sand, the hotel sits minutes from the Dameisha Waterfront and a short drive from the mountain trails of Wutong Mountain and the tea terraces of OCT East. Three restaurants cover Cantonese, international buffet and a seafood grill on the terrace, best taken at sunset when the water turns the colour of a peach.
