Zhushan Bamboo Resort

Zhushan Town (竹山镇, zhúshān zhèn) sits deep inside the Baili Bamboo Sea, and the bamboo-themed resort there is built for the slow kind of visit — hot-spring soaking, forest walking, and not much else by design. The buildings take their cue from the surrounding groves: bamboo screens on the windows, bamboo fibre in the linens, and a lobby that smells of the same resin the forest gives off after rain. You come here to do less, and the resort is happy to let you.

The hot-spring lodge (温泉, wēnquán) is the centre of gravity. The pools are fed from a local source and set among the bamboo so the steam rises into the stalks, and a soak at the end of a walking day is the closest thing the town offers to a reset button. The forest trails begin at the resort gate and range from a ten-minute loop to a half-day climb to a ridge lookout, all of it shaded and quiet, with the occasional farmhouse selling mountain tea by the road.

Because Zhushan is far from the city, the resort runs as a near-self-contained world: a restaurant of local river fish and bamboo shoots, a tea house, and rooms that open onto the grove rather than a corridor. Rooms typically book at a comfortable resort rate, higher than the city but lower than you would pay for the same quiet closer to Chongqing, and the slow pace is the real product — mornings of mist, afternoons of soaking, evenings of nothing in particular. For travellers who have done the temple and the fort and want to end with stillness, this is where Liangping lets you stop moving.
