The character tier is the hillside boutique lodges above the town: infinity decks over the islets, small kitchens of valley produce, sunrise without leaving bed – the photographer’s pick.

The value tier is the business hotels of Qiandaohu town: metro-clean doubles ten minutes’ walk from the piers and the fish-feast streets – the budget base for a full island circuit.
