七叉镇 Qīchā Zhèn sits south-east of 石碌镇 Shílù Zhèn in 昌江黎族自治县 Chāngjiāng Lí Zú Zìzhì Xiàn, about 23 kilometres from the county town on the investment bureau’s figures, on the road every visitor must take from the county seat to 霸王岭 Bàwáng Lǐng and 王下乡 Wángxià Xiāng. It is one of the county’s largest Li towns – 694 square kilometres and 16,774 people on the same figures – with hot springs, 黎锦 Lǐ jǐn brocade and the kapok the county has made its name card, 中国木棉之乡, home of the kapok. Every January to March the 木棉花 mùmián huā along the 昌化江 Chānghuà Jiāng turns red and the town’s farm rooms fill; the rest of the year they empty again.

The county runs the season as a system of viewpoints and dates. Inside the town the official list is 宝山梯田 Bǎoshān Tītián, the Baoshan terraces where the red flowers sit over green rice; 大章水库 Dàzhāng Shuǐkù, the reservoir; the big village of 七叉 itself; and the 昌化江畔木棉赏花码头 Chānghuà Jiāng pàn Mùmián Shǎnghuā Mǎtóu, the riverside flower-viewing wharf. The calendar runs down the valley: the 皇帝洞 Huángdì Dòng country in 王下乡 opens first, late January to mid-February, best in the seven-to-nine-a.m. mist; mid-February brings the 火车木棉 huǒchē mùmián at 排岸村 Pái’àn Cūn in 叉河镇 Chāhé Zhèn, photographed when the trains pass between ten and eleven; 乌烈镇 Wūliè Zhèn’s 峨港村 Égǎng Cūn strings nearly 60,000 trees into a red corridor in the third week of February; and from 20 February to 3 March the riverside wharf holds the 木棉新春雅集 Mùmián Xīnchūn Yǎjí, the kapok new-year gathering. For 2026 the county ran the campaign 向往的春天,从一朵木棉花出发 with a 宿在花海里, sleep in the flower sea, flash-inn programme alongside designers and the hosts of the 七叉村 and 矿海雅院 Kuànghǎi Yǎyuàn houses – the province’s People’s Daily channel recorded it in January 2026, with photographers in town through the first two lunar months and villagers selling tomatoes and baskets to the crowds.
The beds themselves are small farm houses, and on 30 September 2026 they quoted across a 119-to-567-yuan span: 昌江佳和望山居 Chāngjiāng Jiāhé Wàngshān Jū, a new mountain-view courtyard 110 metres north-west of the 七叉村委会 with open-air tubs, from 567 yuan – the town’s dearest bed, proof that a view premium has formed – rated 4.8 across 44 reviews; 昌江佳和榕栖民宿 Jiāhé Róngqī Mínsù at 1 乙洞村 Yǐdòng Cūn on a 3-star platform label from 198; 昌江木棉湾客栈 Mùmián Wān Kèzhàn by the town clinic from 119; 昌江苗村天涯驿站木棉客栈 Miáocūn Tiānyá Yìzhàn Mùmián Kèzhàn in 苗村 Miáo Cūn, standalone timber houses and villa rooms from 168 at 4.3 across 24 reviews; and the non-standard 昌江田头民宿 Tiántóu Mínsù in 红峰一队 Hóngfēng Yī Duì. Out of season the same rooms fall back to 120 to 200 yuan, which is the honest way to read the spring prices.

The town also sells water. The investment bureau’s sheet describes 七叉温泉 Qīchā Wēnquán at 30 to 40 degrees at the vent with 16 milligrams of fluoride and 95.9 of metasilicic acid per litre, a medical fluorine-silica thermal water fit for bathing – figures published for investors and quoted here as the bureau’s, with no water authority behind them this batch could find. The soaking pools the guesthouses advertise stand on the same footing: vendor description, not a verified spring. The Li culture around the rooms is the real article – the town’s brocade weavers, and the villages of 王下乡 Wángxià Xiāng over the ridge, 三派村 Sānpài Cūn and 洪水村 Hóngshuǐ Cūn among them, which have no hotels of their own and send their visitors back to sleep in 七叉 or in 霸王岭小镇 Bàwáng Lǐng Xiǎozhèn – and the gate country of 霸王岭 is about four kilometres off on the bureau’s figures.
What the Rooms Are Like
A 七叉 room is a farm room, and the reviews describe it plainly: rooms big and clean, would come again. The courtyard houses add a terrace and, at the top of the range, an open-air tub facing the hill; the timber houses in 苗村 Miáo Cūn smell of wood; the ordinary guesthouses are concrete rooms over a shop. What the room is really for is the hour after dawn, when the mist sits in the valley and the photographers’ cars start moving; the rest of the day the town empties towards the viewpoints. February weekends need booking ahead – the county publishes traffic and parking plans because the lanes are narrow.
Practicalities
Price. On 30 September 2026 the town quoted 119 at the cheapest guesthouse, 198 and 168 at the mid houses, and 567 for the new mountain-view courtyard at the top, with the whole market falling back to 120 to 200 yuan outside the season. February is the absolute peak, with the 雅集 Yǎjí weeks the tightest; January and March book out more slowly. Every figure is a snapshot that floats.
Address. The rooms are in 七叉镇 Qīchā Zhèn, 昌江黎族自治县 Chāngjiāng Lí Zú Zìzhì Xiàn: 佳和望山居 Jiāhé Wàngshān Jū 110 metres north-west of the 七叉村委会, 佳和榕栖 Jiāhé Róngqī at 1 乙洞村 Yǐdòng Cūn, 木棉湾客栈 Mùmián Wān Kèzhàn beside the town health centre, the 苗村 Miáo Cūn houses in the village of that name, and 田头民宿 Tiántóu Mínsù in 红峰一队 Hóngfēng Yī Duì. The town is about 23 kilometres from 石碌镇 Shílù Zhèn by the investment bureau and about four from the 霸王岭 tourism area; the official flower spots – 宝山梯田 Bǎoshān Tītián, 大章水库 Dàzhāng Shuǐkù, the big village, the riverside wharf – are short drives apart.
Rooms. Ask whether the tub on the terrace is filled in your month, and treat any hot-spring wording as the host’s description rather than a certified spring. Ask which window faces the terraces or the river, because the view premium is real and unevenly distributed. Ask about dinner, since the town’s kitchens are small and the February crowds eat early. And book February weekends ahead of the 雅集 Yǎjí dates, when the county’s own traffic plan expects the lanes full.
Getting there. There is no railway in the town and the county’s high-speed stop is 棋子湾站 Qízi Wān Zhàn in 乌烈镇 Wūliè Zhèn, so the arrival is a car: about half an hour from 石碌镇 Shílù Zhèn on the road that continues to 霸王岭 and 王下乡. The county lists no direct bus to 七叉 – its 石碌—霸王岭 shuttle runs 28 kilometres past the turning – so the homestays want your own car or the host’s pick-up. In February the county publishes diversion plans; follow them, because the flower-sea lanes have no room to park.

Where to stay: a courtyard with an open-air tub at 昌江佳和望山居 Chāngjiāng Jiāhé Wàngshān Jū if February is the point and the budget follows it, a timber house at 昌江苗村天涯驿站木棉客栈 if you want the village version, and a 119-yuan room at 昌江木棉湾客栈 Mùmián Wān Kèzhàn if the flowers alone are paying for the trip, all of them in 七叉镇 Qīchā Zhèn, 昌江黎族自治县 Chāngjiāng Lí Zú Zìzhì Xiàn, with the terraces, the reservoir and the riverside wharf inside twenty minutes.
flowcloud would say that a town which farms rice eleven months a year has worked out that the twelfth is worth more than the harvest, and that the correct way to sleep here is in a farm room over a shop with the alarm set for the mist, because the flowers open on the mountain’s schedule and not on the booking’s.
