The lake-resort bed sits in 松山湖高新技术产业开发区 Sōngshānhú Gāoxīnqú, the Songshan Lake Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, the reservoir-turned-research lake southeast of the city core, and it has held the shore since 2008: the Hyatt Regency Dongguan, the first hotel the Hyatt group opened in the Pearl River Delta by its own official page, on a 200,000-square-metre estate of kept lychee woodland whose lawns run down to the water. The same lake, a few bends around at 环湖路 99 号 Huánhú Lù 99 Hào, carries the red-brick European districts of Huawei’s 溪流背坡村 Xīliúbèipō Cūn – the campus the internet calls Huawei’s European town – which makes this the only bed in the batch with a castle skyline across the water. The quiet has a price and it is logistical: Dongguan’s single operating metro line, Line 2 since 2016, runs from Shilong in the north to Humen in the south and misses Songshan Lake entirely, so this is a self-drive or intercity-plus-taxi shore, the trade the lake asks for keeping its shoulders green.

The house’s age is its argument. 2008 makes it the senior international-brand resort in this batch by a dozen years, and the official line is worth printing exactly: Hyatt’s own page calls it the first Hyatt hotel in the Pearl River Delta, while the encyclopedia line widens the claim to first in Guangdong – the two limits travel here in that order, with the official one taken. The main building opens in a wide eight-stroke figure facing the water, the arrangement the encyclopedia credits to the BLD design office, a platform-grade source printed as such; the estate kept the lychee woodland it was built in, which is why the walk from reception to lake runs under old orchard trees rather than saplings.
The water is the resort’s best room. The outdoor infinity pool runs 1,800 square metres and the official page’s own phrase ties it to the lake – the pool edge and the reservoir edge read as one line from the deck; a 23-metre indoor heated pool takes the cool months; the 松池 Sōngchí spa keeps seven treatment suites; a children’s camp runs on weekends and holidays from 9:00 to 18:00; and the business floor adds an 861-square-metre ballroom with a 2,500-square-metre convention centre behind it, encyclopedia figures printed as platform-grade. What none of it changes is the deck at dusk, when the pool, the lake and the lychee silhouettes settle into the one view the room rate is really paying for.

The village across the water has rules, and they matter to a guest with a camera. The 溪流背坡村 campus does not sell tickets: entry needs a Huawei employee’s reservation and the employee’s company for the whole visit, and what the general traveller actually gets is the perimeter – the lakeside road where the campus’s little red train circles inside and the twelve European districts, Oxford and Luxembourg and Paris and Granada among them by the platform lists, photograph well across the water. Platform guides rent bicycles and electric bikes from about 40 yuan a day at the 大学路 Dàxué Lù entrance. The paid “I’ll take you inside” offers that circulate on social platforms are, in the travel notes’ own words, mostly scams – treat any such product as a warning sign, not a shortcut, and plan on the free perimeter, which is the view the hotel was built for anyway.
What the Rooms Are Like
The count is official and the encyclopedia’s bigger number is not printed here. Hyatt’s page – the hard fact – runs 275 rooms and suites, with 37 suites from 48 square metres; the 320-room encyclopedia figure is retired to the conflict list. Most lake-facing rooms carry open-air soaking tubs on their balconies, the platform-grade detail guests actually book around, and the snapshot’s forty-plus options sort into: 凯悦 Kǎiyuè king and lake-view rooms, 嘉宾轩 Jiābīnxuān Regency Club rooms and lake-view suites, standard king and twin rooms at the quiet end, a Paul Frank kids’ room and a children’s-theme king, and a presidential suite at the top. Ask lake view first, the soaking tub second and the club floor third – the tub is the difference between watching the lake and being in it.
Practicalities
Price. On 1 October 2026 the snapshot read: from 666 yuan on RollingGo (listed in English as Hyatt Regency Dongguan), 988 on Tongcheng at 4.7, and an 822-yuan average on Meituan at 4.4; the platform tags say five-star and deluxe, no government grading notice behind them. Weekends and lake-side events firm the rates. Every figure is a snapshot that floats.
Address. 松山湖高新技术产业开发区沁园路 Qìnyuán Lù – Qinyuan Road inside the zone, the address the official Hyatt page prints, phone 0769-22891234 on the Tongcheng listing. Platform address bars variously move the house to “Dalong town centre” or “200 metres south of the Great Wall compound”; both variants are noise, and the zone name plus Qinyuan Road is the pin that navigates.
Rooms. Ask lake view before anything else, because the estate’s geometry makes the difference real. Ask whether your room’s balcony carries the open-air soaking tub, since only the lake-facing cut does. Ask for the Regency Club when the rate allows, and book the kids’ theme rooms by name if the children are the travellers.
Getting there. No metro reaches the lake – Line 2 ends at Humen in the south and Shilong in the north and never enters Songshan Lake – so the rail option is the Dongguan-Huizhou intercity to 松山湖北站 Sōngshānhú Běi, Songshan Lake North station, and a taxi the rest of the way, the station list itself being a platform-grade source. Self-drive is about an hour from Shenzhen or Guangzhou, an estimate – navigate. Shenzhen Bao’an airport is some 35 kilometres by the platform figure and Guangzhou Baiyun about 70: call it 40 to 60 minutes either way and let navigation decide. The public side has its own sight for the off hours: 松湖烟雨 Sōnghú Yānyǔ, “misty rain on the pine lake”, one of the city’s eight classic sights, free at the junction of Daxue and Binhu roads.

Where to stay: a Regency Club lake-view room if the club floor and the soaking tub are the holiday, a standard king if the estate and the pool are the point and the rate is not, and a children’s-theme room if the small travellers outrank the view – all on Qinyuan Road, Songshan Lake Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, 东莞市, the shore where lychee orchard, infinity pool and a European village share one reservoir.
flowcloud would say that a zone built for engineers has kept one hotel for the people who come to watch the engineers, and that the correct way to sleep here is lake-side with the tub filled at dusk, because the castle across the water lights up for other people’s overtime and from the right balcony the show is free.
