The riverfront of Wanzhou District (万州区, Wànzhōu Qū) in Chongqing runs along the 滨江路 Bīnjiāng lù, where the Yangtze meets the rebuilt urban shore. Staying here means waking to the broad brown river and the lit sweep of the 牌楼长江大桥 Pailou Yangtze bridge, within easy reach of the old piers where night cruises still depart.

The 十七码头 Shíqī mǎtou (Shiji pier) anchors the southern end of the riverfront. From here the 平湖 pínghú “placid lake” night cruise — roughly 65 yuan per person — slips out onto the still reservoir water, its running lights trailing across the surface beneath the bridge.

Rooms along this strip trade almost entirely on the view: a balcony over the water, the bridge glowing after dark, and the slow parade of cargo and cruise boats. It is the most scenic base in Wanzhou, though the price of the panorama is a short walk or ride from the denser urban core.
