Downtown hotels cluster along Jiefang Road and around the station – the station side suits early trains, and the water-street quarter puts the evening food lanes in walking distance.
Proximity is the argument. From a lobby downtown, the memorial square is minutes on foot, the evening water street runs its lit circuit, and the taxi stands outside the big hotels hold a car to the crane reserve or Holland Flower Sea within the hour. Hotels here compete on breakfast timing and front-desk polish – staff are used to guests fitting a memorial visit before checkout and a wetland run the next dawn.
The Stays
The workhorse tier is the business chains above the malls: compact twins, strong showers, desks set up for itinerary planning, and breakfast from seven – the function pick for a sightseeing sprint.
The character tier is the smaller renovated properties around the water street: warmer timber, quieter corridors, and the snack lanes below the windows – the pick for travellers who would rather walk to dinner than ride.
The comfort tier is the full-service towers with club floors: marble lobbies, city-view kings, big breakfast halls and evening lounges – the splurge that still costs less than the same room in Yangzhou or Nanjing.
