The room stock spans the ladder: business chains above the malls, full-service hotels with club floors and lobby restaurants, and apartment-style rooms over the office blocks, priced a clear step below Nanjing or Hangzhou for the same stars. Downtown hotels cluster along the Wenchang axis and near the stations – the axis side suits shopping and evening food runs, the station side catches early trains.
Proximity is the argument. From a lobby on the axis, Dongguan Street’s evening lane is fifteen minutes on foot, the canal-side squares are a short ride, and Slender West Lake’s south gate sits under twenty minutes by taxi. Hotels here compete on breakfast timing and front-desk polish – staff are used to guests fitting a lake morning before checkout.
