Yinggehai Salt-Field Stays, Beds by the Pans

The salt bed of this batch sits at the county’s south-west corner. 莺歌海盐场 Yīnggēhǎi Yánchǎng, the Yinggehai salt field, lies on the coast between 莺歌海镇 Yīnggēhǎi Zhèn and 黄流镇 Huángliú Zhèn at 金鸡岭 Jīnjī Lǐng, was built and put into production in 1958, and is billed by the county government and by state television as the largest sea-salt field in southern China, ranked with the Changlu and Budai fields among the country’s three great salt works. The beds that serve it are not resort beds: a salt-field guesthouse whose top floor looks over the pans, a boat-shaped house on the waterfront at Huangliu, a pair of wooden-cabin and courtyard inns, and an ordinary chain row in front of 黄流站 Huángliú Zhàn, Huangliu station, from about 86 yuan to the low 500s. It is a working salt coast, and everything here is measured against the pans rather than against a beach.

The salt field is the address’s whole reason and its numbers are printed side by side, as the sources give them. The county government’s own survey and state television put the field at roughly 3,800 hectares, about 38 square kilometres, while one state-television figure gives a current worked area of 3,360.7 hectares, and the encyclopaedia account lists 3,793.33 hectares of which 2,980 are in production; this article prints the range rather than picking one. The works run an annual raw-salt capacity of about 250,000 tonnes, up to 300,000 at the top, and supply more than eighty per cent of Hainan’s output by the encyclopaedia line; the aged salt they sell, cured three to six months, runs about ninety-seven per cent sodium chloride on the state-television account. The story of the place is a 1958 state salt works rather than an ancient one, and that is exactly why this article keeps clear of the millennium-old salt gardens elsewhere on this site: this is a modern pan system on a sandy tidal flat, worked by crews, not a rock-cut terrace by a volcanic shore. The 环岛旅游公路, the island scenic tourist highway, runs along the pans and carries the 莺歌踏浪驿站 Yīnggē Tàlàng Yìzhàn, the Yingge Talang rest stop, one of the first eight key stops opened on a trial basis on 20 November 2023.

The guesthouses sort by what you want to look at. 乐东盐场故事民宿, the Salt Field Story guesthouse, is at number 121, team one, of the 新一 Xīnyī village committee in 莺歌海镇 Yīnggēhǎi Zhèn: a two-star read at 3.9 across 11 Ctrip reviews from 180 yuan, or 7.8 to 9.5 of 10 on another platform from HK$98, whose selling point is a top floor that looks over the whole salt field and catches its sunrise and sunset, with a local restaurant, a tea room and a KTV below; it is about 2.4 kilometres from the pans and put at five kilometres from 黄流站 Huángliú Zhàn by two platforms against 11.1 by a third, a spread this article prints rather than resolves. 莺歌踏浪船屋民宿 on number 1 滨海大道 Bīnhǎi Dàdào, Binhai Avenue, in 黄流镇 Huángliú Zhèn, is the band’s other signature: a comfort-class house at 4.7 from 516 yuan on Tongcheng or 8.9 of 10 from HK$235, whose 庭院湖景 rooms are built in a 黎族船屋 Lízú chuánwū shape, a new building in the boat-house form rather than a traditional Li dwelling kept in service, a distinction this article holds to. 乐东海屿宿民宿 at number 02-03 of the 椰林海边 compound on 海新街 in 莺歌海镇 Yīnggēhǎi Zhèn is a detached wooden cabin at 4.8 from 488 yuan, one bedroom and one living room with a loft sleeping mat and two bathrooms, looking over sea and flowers with a public beach and a laundry below. 乐东莺·海纳里民宿客栈 on 海军街西路 Hǎijūn Jiē Xīlù is the budget end at 4.8 from 89 yuan, with constellation-themed rooms and dormitory beds including a women-only dorm, and pets welcome; 佳鸿民宿 at 镇北二道 is a newer two-star at 4.7 from 208, 有客民宿 at 五道北 reads a clean 5.0 from 86, and 乐东假日美地酒店 in 莺歌海六道 Yīnggēhǎi Liùdào is a two-star at 4.7 across 117 from 180, or 9.5 of 10 from HK$244.

The second half of the band is the town in front of the station. 黄流镇 Huángliú Zhèn is the service centre for the pans, with 黄流站 Huángliú Zhàn in 孔汶村 Kǒngwén Cūn, Kongwen village, and the chain row in front of it is where the value sits: the platform snapshot reads 棲曼智慧酒店 at 9.4 across 662 reviews from HK$167, 朵萊影院酒店 at 9.3 across 400 from HK$122, 华瑞酒店 at 9.5 across 176 from HK$133, 卡尔顿智选 at 9.3 across 354 from HK$99, 凯美悦影院酒店 at 9.0 across 105 from HK$105 and 悦莱客栈 at 4.3 from 93 yuan. This is also old-town China rather than resort China: 黄流 is the town that gave the county its old-duck kitchen and its lantern craft, and a night here is a salt-works morning and a town dinner rather than a beach. The freight background is worth a line for anyone looking at the pans from a window, since a 27.2-kilometre branch railway links the salt field to the Yuehai network, which is part of why the pans and the passenger platform sit so close together. The one thing this coast is not is the millennium-old salt garden of the island’s north-west, with its black volcanic rock and its rock-cut terraces; this is a modern southern pan system on sand, and this article leaves that older story where it belongs.

What the Rooms Are Like

The band is small enough to choose by view. At the Salt Field Story the top-floor rooms are the point, a pan-wide horizon at sunrise, and the rest of the house is a plain two-star with a restaurant and a tea room. At 莺歌踏浪 the boat-house-shaped courtyard rooms are a designed stay, higher in price and newer in build, and worth being clear about what they are: a modern form in the shape of a Li boat house rather than an antique one. 海屿宿 is a detached wooden cabin for a quieter, more private night, 莺·海纳里 is a courtyard inn with dorm beds for the lowest price, and the 黄流站 row is a chain room with a projector and a bed. Room counts are published for none of them, so book by the view and the build, and confirm breakfast, which most of these houses leave out of the rate.

Practicalities

Price. On 2 October 2026 the snapshot read: 莺歌踏浪船屋民宿 from 516 yuan (Tongcheng 4.7, another platform 8.9), 海屿宿 from 488, 盐场故事民宿 from 180 on Ctrip against HK$98 on another platform, 佳鸿 208, 假日美地 from 180 (4.7 across 117), 莺·海纳里 from 89, 有客民宿 from 86, and the 黄流站 row from 93 yuan at 悦莱客栈 up through 卡尔顿智选 HK$99, 凯美悦 HK$105, 朵萊 HK$122, 华瑞 HK$133 and 棲曼 HK$167, a band of roughly 86 to 516 yuan, with the wooden cabin and the boat-house house at the top. Every figure is a snapshot that floats.

Address. The band addresses itself by the pans and the station: 盐场故事民宿 at number 121, team one, 新一 village committee, 莺歌海镇 Yīnggēhǎi Zhèn; 莺歌踏浪船屋民宿 at number 1 滨海大道 Bīnhǎi Dàdào in 黄流镇 Huángliú Zhèn; 海屿宿 on 海新街 Hǎixīn Jiē at 莺歌海镇; 莺·海纳里 on 海军街西路 Hǎijūn Jiē Xīlù; and the chain row in front of 黄流站 Huángliú Zhàn in 孔汶村 Kǒngwén Cūn. Pin by the pans and the station road, and confirm the station-to-house distance on navigation.

Rooms. Choose by the view: a top-floor pan-view room at the Salt Field Story for the sunrise, a boat-house-shaped courtyard room at 莺歌踏浪 for the design, a detached wooden cabin at 海屿宿 for privacy, a dorm bed at 莺·海纳里 for the floor of the band, and a chain room in the 黄流站 row for a projector and a platform on the doorstep. Room counts are unpublished, so ask for the aspect and confirm whether breakfast is in the rate.

Getting there. Ledong sits on the 海南西环高铁 Hǎinán Xīhuán Gāotiě, the Hainan West Ring high-speed railway, and this band is served by 黄流站 Huángliú Zhàn, which stands in 孔汶村 Kǒngwén Cūn, Kongwen village, in 黄流镇 Huángliú Zhèn about a kilometre from the town centre; it opened with the west ring on 30 December 2015 and, by the encyclopaedia line, resumed handling passenger boarding on 16 September 2022, so it is a working stop today. It is also one of the three existing Ledong stops on the 三乐旅游铁路 Sānlè Lǚyóu Tiělù tourist railway from Sanya that opened on 16 November 2024, which runs up to thirty-six trains a day with QR boarding; from 黄流站 the run to 三亚 Sānyà is about forty-six minutes for 33 yuan and to Phoenix airport about thirty-six minutes for 29 yuan, both snapshots. Do not mix it up with 尖峰站 Jiānfēng Zhàn in Foluo or 尖峰北站 Jiānfēngběi Zhàn in Jianfeng town’s Lingtou village, which are two separate stations on two separate lines. By road, the 环岛旅游公路 runs along the pans and past the Yingge Talang rest stop, and the town has its own long-distance bus station; the Salt Field Story is about five kilometres from 黄流站 by two platforms against 11.1 by a third, and the boat-house house sits along Binhai Avenue, so navigate the last kilometre. All distances and times are snapshots to check against navigation.

Where to stay: a top-floor pan-view room at the Salt Field Story if the sunrise over the pans is the point, a boat-house-shaped courtyard room at 莺歌踏浪 if the design is, a wooden cabin at 海屿宿 for privacy, and a chain room in front of 黄流站 if 86 to 170 yuan is the plan – all on the 莺歌海盐场 Yīnggēhǎi Yánchǎng, the salt coast between 莺歌海镇 Yīnggēhǎi Zhèn and 黄流镇 Huángliú Zhèn.

flowcloud would say that a salt field built by crews in 1958 has no need of a legend, and that the correct way to sleep here is on the top floor with the curtain open, because the pans turn colour twice a day and the ordinary hotels by the station are for people who have not yet understood that the light is the exhibit.
