营根镇 Yínggēn Zhèn is the county seat of 琼中黎族苗族自治县 Qióngzhōng Límé Miáozú Zìzhìxiàn, an autonomous county answering directly to Hainan province, and it is the bed base every central-Hainan road trip funnels through – the town where the island’s central expressways meet, seven kilometres from the 百花岭 scenic area and the practical overnight jump for the mountain parks beyond. The county government’s own 2017 profile draws the place honestly: no very tall buildings, a town hall without walls, “this town has nothing to do with bustle” – and its bed market is exactly as thin and as new as that town should be, led by a 2023-built Four Points and bookended by 91-yuan guestrooms.

Two landmarks organise the town, and both come with the county government’s own wording. The first is 三月三广场 Sānyuèsān Guǎngchǎng, Sanyuesan Square – “Yinggen has the largest Sanyuesan square in Hainan”, the county’s profile prints in so many words – the festival ground where, every third day of the third lunar month, more than 80,000 people in festival dress gather for an evening of song and dance performed entirely by villagers from the county’s own towns; the square sits just south of the junction of 海榆路 Háiyú Lù and national road 224. The second is 百花廊桥 Bǎihuā Lángqiáo, the Baihua Covered Bridge, the town’s best-known landmark, “leaning on mountain and water, a brilliant great red – one point of red in ten thousand greens” in the same profile’s words, spanning the 营根河 Yínggēn Hé, the river that threads the town. Between the two, the town reads as what it is: a quiet administrative centre built to human height, which is precisely why its one luxury hotel hides in the hills at the edge of it.
The flagship is 琼中福朋喜来登酒店 Qióngzhōng Fúpéng Xǐláidēng Jiǔdiàn, the Four Points by Sheraton Hainan Qiongzhong, at 白龙溪路 1 号 Báilóngxī Lù 1 Hào, opened in 2023 – the first international-brand house in the county. Its 178 rooms are the YongAn travel platform’s figure, a platform count printed here as such, arranged not in a tower but in villa-style terraced houses – 山墅 shānshù mountain, 园墅 yuánshù garden and 云墅 yúnshù cloud villas – tucked into the rainforest on the hillside, so that guests’ reviews describe “a hotel that is all villas”, insect sound at night, and a design brief the Ctrip blurb traces to Zhuangzi’s 逍遥游 Xiāoyáoyóu blended with Li-Miao motifs, credited with a “creative China best design gold award”, a platform-carried award line. The facilities list runs to an outdoor landscape pool, gym, the 聚味 Jùwèi Chinese restaurant, lobby bar, children’s playroom, KTV and yoga sessions; breakfast is a 07:00-10:30 buffet at 60 yuan an adult with children under six free and ages seven to twelve at 30; pet rooms run 150 yuan a day for animals up to 18 kilograms by reservation; check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 12:00. The location is the practical punchline: about 2.8 kilometres from the Baihualing scenic area, a 1.9-kilometre walk to the Baihua bridge, 1.6 to the Yinggen river, and 3.9 kilometres, eleven minutes, from the Qiongzhong bus station. On 30 September 2026 Ctrip rated it 4.6 across 1,295 reviews at No. 1 on its own Qiongzhong deluxe-hotels ranking, Tongcheng quoted from 467 yuan at 4.7, and Meituan stood at 4.6 – the five-star and deluxe tags being the platforms’ descriptions, with no government grading notice behind them.

The rest of the town is the budget band, and it is thin in a way that is itself information. Checked on 30 September 2026: the 如家 Rújiā (Home Inn) at Sanyuesan Square from 154 to 169 yuan at 4.7 across 137 reviews, newly opened, with robot service and charging piles; the 城市便捷 Chéngshì Biànjié (City Comfort Inn) by the bus station from 162 to 209 at 4.5 across 42 reviews, also new, with smart room controls and buffet breakfast; the 大美祥瑞绿橙庄园民宿 Dàměi Xiángruì green-orange-estate guesthouse on the town’s orchard fringe from 320; and the floor of the market, 琼中交通旅租 Jiāotōng guestrooms in the transport-building on 海榆路 119 号 at 91 yuan, the county’s cheapest bed, with a 如家旅租 on 吊罗山路 Diàoluóshān Lù at 99 – an address carried here exactly as the platform prints it and no further, since 吊罗山 is otherwise a township name and the street’s location could not be verified. No Vienna, no Lavande, none of the mid-market chains that blanket a Guangdong county town: Yinggen’s chain band is Home Inn and City Comfort Inn and nothing else, one of the lightest county hotel markets on the island, and the 91-to-467-yuan spread between the transport guesthouse and the Four Points is effectively the whole official market.
What the Rooms Are Like
A Four Points room here is a villa room, and the villa is the choice. The Tongcheng snapshot runs eighteen types across the three villa lines – 山墅 king, twin, suite and family rooms; 园墅 king, twin, family and family-suite; 云墅 king, twin, suite and a parent-child family room; plus garden-wing kings and twins, whole-villa lets and pet-friendly rooms – with 1.83-metre kings and 1.38-metre twins as the standard beds. What the villa plan buys is quiet and canopy: the houses sit stepped up the hillside under the trees, so the balcony view is leaf and slope rather than street, and the walk from reception to room is outdoors in the air the county is famous for. The budget band’s rooms are the counter-image – small, fronted on the square or the bus station, built for a bed and a shower before an early drive – and the gap between the two is exactly the choice a Yinggen night offers.
Practicalities
Price. On 30 September 2026 the town quoted from 467 yuan for the Four Points on Tongcheng and 91 yuan at the transport guesthouse, with the two new chains at 154-169 and 162-209 and the green-orange estate guesthouse at 320. The Sanyuesan festival weeks around the third lunar month are the year’s firm season, when 80,000 people come to the square. Every figure is a snapshot that floats.
Address. The addresses anchor to the town: the Four Points at 白龙溪路 1 号 Báilóngxī Lù 1 Hào, phone 0898-36855888 on the Tongcheng listing; the Home Inn beside 三月三广场; the City Comfort Inn beside 琼中汽车站 Qióngzhōng Chēzhàn; the green-orange estate guesthouse by the orchard base on the town fringe; and the transport guesthouse at 海榆路 119 号. The two landmarks: the square just south of the 海榆路-224 junction, and the covered bridge over the 营根河.
Rooms. At the Four Points, ask which villa line your room sits in – mountain, garden or cloud – because the three are different blocks on different levels, and confirm the breakfast add-on rate and the pet-room reservation if either applies. In the chains, ask about parking at festival time, when the square’s surroundings are the town’s busiest ground. And book early for the Sanyuesan window regardless of budget tier, because the town’s room stock is simply thin.
Getting there. The town sits on the central expressway, the 海三高速 Hǎisān Gāosù (G9811): about 150 kilometres and two to two-and-a-half hours from Haikou, about two and a half from Sanya, estimates – navigate. Coaches run the Qiongzhong-Haikou line 16 times a day, 06:10 to 19:00, at 60 yuan on the 30 September 2026 snapshot – an older timetable printed 35 to 40, so treat the snapshot as the working figure and the station’s board as the live one. There is NO railway: the round-island high-speed line does not pass Qiongzhong, there is no operating Qiongzhong station, and any page offering a high-speed transfer to Qiongzhong is wrong – come by car or coach. From town the radii are short: Baihualing about 6-7 kilometres, 红毛镇’s tea farm about 23 kilometres and up, 黎母山 about 40-50, 什寒村 about 40; town taxis reach Baihualing, a platform guide note.

Where to stay: a 云墅 yúnshù family room at the Four Points by Sheraton if the trip deserves the county’s one luxury house, the City Comfort Inn by the bus station if tomorrow is an early coach, and the green-orange estate guesthouse on the fringe if the orchards are the mood – all in 营根镇 Yínggēn Zhèn, 琼中黎族苗族自治县, the quiet capital every central-Hainan road has to touch.
flowcloud would say that a town which keeps its hall unwalled has kept its beds honest too, and that the correct way to sleep here is early and low to the ground, because the mountains start moving at dawn and the coach to Haikou does not wait for the second breakfast sitting.
