Chongqing is a municipality of southwest China, and the flat reclaimed ground north of the city, between the airport’s runways and the 嘉陵江 Jiālíng Jiāng, Jialing River, is where a trade show built a second downtown. That ground was the northern half of the former 渝北区 Yúběi Qū, Yubei District, abolished on 7 November 2025 and folded with 江北区 Jiāngběi Qū, Jiangbei, into the new 两江新区 Liǎngjiāng Xīnqū, Liangjiang New Area. 悦来 Yuèlái, Yuelai, and the ground around 中央公园 Zhōngyāng Gōngyuán, Central Park, sit inside it. The hotels between the two run on event calendars, not tourists: they stand back from the roads, the lobbies are sized for a coach group, and a room is priced by when a hall opens.

The centre at the middle of it is 重庆国际博览中心 Chóngqìng Guójì Bólǎn Zhōngxīn, the Chongqing International Expo Centre, on 悦来大道 Yuèlái Dàdào, Yuelai Avenue: sixteen halls inside a building whose plan reads from the air as a butterfly with its wings out. Platform listings put its public hours at 09:00 to 17:30 and free, and that free access should be believed with care, because the figure comes from booking pages rather than from the centre’s own site. The 悦来美术馆 Yuèlái Měishùguǎn, Yuelai Art Museum, on the second floor of the eco hall at 悦城路 Yuèchéng Lù, Yuecheng Road 30, is free with an advance booking, though two platform listings disagree on whether it is operating at all.
Two things about the ground decide everything else. The park first: 重庆中央公园 Chóngqìng Zhōngyāng Gōngyuán, Central Park, opened in 2013 at a reported 4.6 billion yuan, covering 1.53 square kilometres and running 2.4 kilometres north to south, with roughly 300 mu of sunlit grass in the middle, a 200-mu mirror lake in the south, and the city’s largest music fountain group in the north. It is free, open all day, and inside the airport’s obstacle-limitation zone, so nothing flies over it. The retail second: the Halo mall, Longfor Paradise Walk, Wuyue Plaza and Dayuecheng are all walkable, so evenings happen underground.

What makes the belt work as a hotel district is that a trade show is a long-booking animal. Halls are sold years ahead and exhibitors block room blocks with them, so the most reliable convention hotel in the city is also where a room is hardest to get on a bad date and easiest on a good one. Read off booking pages in October 2026, the belt prices in two clean tiers: mid-scale chain and slim business stock at about 110 to 330 yuan, the light-luxury and upper mid-scale tier at 400 to 600. The gap is less a quality gap than a floor-area gap, and the upper tier empties first when a big show lands. One anchor is the Yuelai Wyndham, whose Chinese restaurant sits 142 metres from the centre and its cafe 189, which is how tight the walking geography is.
Three registers: the budget chain on a side road, the mid-scale business house ten minutes’ walk from a hall, and the long-stay apartment in a tower above a mall. What this belt does not sell is a bargain: the mid-scale tier here is not cheap for Chongqing, because the land under it is expensive and the halls need the hotel base more than the hotel needs the guests. The riverside register and the college-town price floor both sit elsewhere, and neither applies to a room priced by a hall calendar.
Practicalities
Price. Two tiers, both read off booking pages in October 2026 and both describing the belt rather than any single property, since these rates move with the show calendar faster than the platforms can re-rank them. Mid-scale chain and slim business stock runs roughly 110 to 330 yuan. The light-luxury and upper mid-scale tier runs 400 to 600. Check the show calendar before checking the price, because a hall opening empties the top tier and shuts the bottom one at the same time.
Address. The belt is written in the old district name on every listing – 重庆市渝北区, now the northern part of 两江新区 Liǎngjiāng Xīnqū, Liangjiang New Area, after the 7 November 2025 change. Addresses cluster on 悦来大道 Yuèlài Dàdào, Yuelai Avenue, and 悦城路 Yuèchéng Lù, Yuecheng Road. The convention centre is at 悦来大道 66 号, No. 66.
Rooms. The stock is business-shaped and larger than a city room, because the guests come in groups. Expect a mid-scale chain room with a wide desk and twin beds set for sharing; an upper mid-scale or light-luxury room with a sitting area, which is where the price jump is actually spent; and a serviced apartment above a mall, with a kitchenette, for stays past a week. Ask whether the room faces a hall or a mall roof, because show days end with convoy traffic and mall days end with nothing at all.
Getting there. Three Line 10 stations serve the belt – Central Park, Central Park West and Central Park East – all on the first phase opened on 28 December 2017, and 悦来站 Yuèlài, Yuelai, changes there to the Line 6 Expo Line branch, a branch service rather than a separately numbered line. The halls, the malls and the rail are all within walking distance, so this is the one Chongqing belt where a car is a liability. Buses run the avenue, and taxis are easy here because the addresses are large and well signed.

A day on this belt is not a holiday and does not pretend to be. Early morning belongs to the trade: coaches at the plaza, badge queues under the canopy, and the breakfast floors full of people carrying lanyards. Midday is the halls’ own rhythm, longest and least interesting to an outsider. Afternoon is the trade stand and the business meeting, and the one hour of quiet the district gets. Evening belongs to the malls, which is where a guest who came for a show and stayed for a week eats. Then the halls shut, the coaches leave in a convoy, and the belt empties more completely than anywhere else in the city, because its occupancy is an event count and the count is over.
flowcloud would say that the Yuelai and Central Park belt is the only place in Chongqing where the room rate is set by a hall’s booking calendar rather than by a season, and that the correct way to sleep here is to pick one of the three Central Park stations and walk to the halls, because a room in this belt is a walk to a trade show and nothing else.
Where to stay: a mid-scale chain room within ten minutes’ walk of a hall if you are here for a show and the price is the point; an upper mid-scale or light-luxury room if the show is worth sitting down after, because that tier buys the sitting area the whole belt is priced around; and a serviced apartment above one of the malls if the stay runs past a week and you need a kitchen – because here the belt sells a walk to a hall, and the hall sets the price.
