Chiyou Jiuli City (蚩尤九黎城, Chīyóu Jiǔlí Chéng) is a 4A-rated (graded June 2016), 90-yuan-a-head cultural city on the Wujiang bank at Dianshui Street (靛水街道) — the county’s statement of Miao identity, built around Chiyou (蚩尤), the ancestor the Miao tradition honours, and the Nine Li (九黎) of his ancient confederation. The buildings are the argument: the Jiuli Palace (九黎宫), the Jiuli God Pillar (九黎神柱), the Xianyi Gate (畎夷门) and the Miao King’s Mansion (苗王府), carrying Miao intangible heritage (苗族非遗); and the night is the 《山海九黎》 show (118 yuan), with the city lit from 19:30.
The Miao are the county’s largest ethnic group, and Chiyou Jiuli City is the modern monument to a tradition that had no monumental centre — the ancestor worshipped in village ritual gets a palace, a pillar and a gate, all built within the last decade. The honest frame is the same as the county’s other new site: this is a constructed heritage city, and its content is the Miao craft and performance the county’s villages still hold. The night show is the city’s second act, and the 19:30 lighting is the cue.
The buildings are the day visit and the show is the night one — the 118-yuan ticket is separate, and the lighting time is the arrival cue. The heritage displays are the Miao craft the county’s villages keep; the site is the concentrated version. It sits on the Wujiang at Dianshui, a short run from the seat ⚠️ verify the show’s seasonal schedule and ticketing before publishing.
