Chuanhegai (川河盖, Chuānhé Gài) is the county’s newest graded attraction — 3A, graded December 2025 — and free to enter: a plateau at about 1,200 metres whose flat top and steep sides have earned it the name “China’s table mountain” (中国桌山). The 盖 (the plateau’s flat cap) carries the named rock formations — the Comb Mountain (梳子山), the Sawtooth Rock (锯齿岩), the Golden Toad (金蟾求凤) — and a four-season register: azaleas in spring, matricaria in summer, Miscanthus grass in autumn, and ice and snow in winter. The ropeway is ticketed separately at about 80 yuan round trip.
The name is the landform. A table mountain is a plateau with steep sides and a flat top — here, the 盖 is the flat cap left where the surrounding rock eroded away, and the climb to it is the visit’s threshold. The ropeway solves the climb; the formations on top reward it. The four-season pitch follows the plateau’s vegetation, which is why the same flat top is four different products: flowers in the warm months, grass in the autumn, snow in the cold.
The plateau is the county’s cool product — the elevation keeps it comfortable in summer and the autumn Miscanthus is the locals’ favourite register, when the grass turns and the wind does the rest. The ropeway is the practical way up; the road is the alternative. As the newest graded attraction in the county (December 2025), the infrastructure is fresh — ⚠️ verify the ropeway’s current operation and the plateau’s opening arrangements before publishing.
