Nanmuwan (楠木湾, Nánmù Wān) is a 4A-rated (graded June 2024 — the county’s newest), 60-yuan-a-head site at Jinsi Nanmu Village (金丝楠村), Liangzeng Township (两罾乡) — a village built around a community of golden-thread nanmu (金丝楠木, Phoebe zhennan) old trees. The grove is the sight: the trees whose fine golden grain made them the imperial palace timber, standing as a living forest in a mountain village rather than as beams in a hall.
金丝楠木 is the timber Chinese architecture reserved for its highest uses — the grain’s golden thread, the wood’s durability and fragrance, and the centuries it takes to grow, which is why old groves are rare and villages are named after them. Nanmuwan’s proposition is the tree at full scale: not a specimen but a community, a village’s address given by its grove. The June 2024 grading is the county’s bet that the trees alone can carry a 4A.
The grove walk is the whole visit — the trees are read individually, and the village around them is the frame. As the newest rating in the county, the site’s operations are still settling ⚠️ verify opening arrangements, guiding and paths before publishing. The 60-yuan ticket buys a tree-grove rather than a built sight, and the visit pairs with a countryside lunch rather than a county-seat afternoon.
